Why a horse they ask?
Sometimes you must “buck” the system…find your path…listen to that inner nagging voice. Nobody ever said it would be easy. In fact, most will discourage you because it is exactly the opposite. Do it anyway!
The Painting Technique
Most of my paintings are currently in acrylic paint and quite frankly the technique was an accident! In attempt to ”loosen up” and express the true emotional connection I have to a horse, I stumbled on a process that has become uniquely my own.
The freedom of working with acrylic paints and the willingness to let a piece evolve has been truly rewarding for me as artist. Often, viewers are surprised to learn that I start with a very organic background. Color or tone is my first decision. Where the paint takes me from there is not planned.
The arrival of the horse on the canvas is even a surprise to me on many of the pieces. I often step back from the easel and discover that the placement of an eye as dictated by the running paint is all I need to get started.
Ultimately, it is my desire to somehow share the emotions of the connection many of us have with this honorable animal.
The Sculpture
The process of creating something that you have seen in your mind’s eye or l captured from a dream is one of the coolest parts of being an artist! Bronze Sculpting was my first leap into the world of art.
The endless possibilities of working in clay will hold my attention long after my hands will be able to move the medium. This is the beauty of bronze. It gives me the opportunity to capture my inspiration in a medium that will endure the test of time. A legacy.
I have an extensive collection of small and monument size sculptures available. Each with a story that inspired my original sculpting.
